PLANNED PARENTHOOD
Planned Parenthood is proud to highlight the work of Black Mamas Matter Alliance (BMMA) during Black Maternal Health Week. Now in its eighth year, this important week, founded and led by BMMA, marks a time for all of us to raise awareness about the alarming pregnancy-related death rates among Black mamas. BMMA amplifies the voices of Black mamas and centers the values and traditions of the Reproductive and birth justice movement.

Black women have always been at the forefront of movements for justice, bridging families, communities, and change. With reproductive freedom now under escalating attacks in every corner of the country, it’s time to lift the voices, perspectives, and lived childbirth experiences of Black people. It is fitting that Black Maternal Health Week falls during National Minority Health Month.
Black Maternal Health Week 2025. Reparative Care. Restorative Justice. Collective Action For Black Families.

Planned Parenthood is proud to showcase Black Mamas Matter Alliance, a national network of Black women-led organizations that lead the way to expand access to care for Black mamas before, during, and after pregnancy.

"Healing Legacies: Strengthening Black Maternal Health Through Collective Action and Advocacy" is this year's Black Maternal Health Week theme. It honors the resilience of Black mamas and presents an opportunity to lift and address systemic injustices that continue to shape Black maternal health outcomes.

This week, April 11-17, highlights the enduring strength of Black-led perinatal, maternal, and reproductive health organizations to drive systemic change and foster community healing. Black Mamas Matter Alliance believes we can all improve Black maternal health outcomes through advocacy, policy change, and community engagement.

It's time to protect and expand reproductive rights and health for everyone. Find out more and get involved with Black Mamas Matter Alliance now.
