Thoughtful, compassionate journalism
What happened to the word compassion? You won’t hear it coming out of Washington these days. It’s not on the lips of millions of Christians who are enthused about the White House shuttering USAID and ending humanitarian aid to 177 countries around the world. The word is simply gone. It disappeared overnight. All kinds of people now see compassion as a term for national weakness.
Not at The Christian Century! Compassion is all over our pages, because we attach ourselves to a faith that finds care for other people indispensable to who we are. You don’t build a kinder and better world without compassion. You also don’t have thoughtful journalism if the idea of caring for others doesn’t enter your content.
