Introducing David Peckinpaugh on Behalf of Maritz: We are excited to honor leaders like David Peckinpaugh ([link removed]) on behalf of the Maritz ([link removed]) team at the 2025 Freedom Awards ([link removed]) ! As one of the pioneering companies to join The Code, Maritz has long been committed to human trafficking prevention. Their dedicated Human Trafficking Awareness Committee, a grassroots initiative led by employees for over 12 years, continues to make a significant impact. Maritz organizes and hosts events for customers, industry partners, and suppliers, continually seizing every opportunity to raise awareness about human trafficking both within their organization and among their partners.

PACT Discusses Former North Dakota Senator Sentencing: Last summer, Lori Cohen, PACT CEO, interviewed with North Dakota Monitor ([link removed]) regarding a former North Dakota senator, who traveled abroad and sexually exploited young boys. This week, in light of the sentencing, she went on News & Views with Joel Heitkamp to discuss the federal law, the importance of recognizing that boys, too, can be victims of sexual exploitation, and how PACT will continue to advocate to protect all children, including boys.

“We always talk about boys as perpetrators, but we need to give space to recognize them as victims. We need to make opportunities for them to seek help.”

** Urgent Need for Better Online Child Protection Laws: Social media should be a safe space for kids, but a recent investigation ([link removed]) by the Latin American Center for Investigative Journalism found predators lurking online and using subtle tactics to groom children. Within the study, PACT discusses how tech companies aren’t being held accountable and emphasizes support for the United Nations Convention Against Cybercrimes, which would serve as the first set of international standards to protect children online.
