Australia is at a turning point. We can’t afford to keep heading down the current path.

Dear John,

Labor is back in the headlines again for shutting down one of our agricultural industries.

And it’s not their decision to shut down the live sheep export industry.

This time it’s cattle.

In 2011, Labor brought an entire supply chain to a halt when it made a knee-jerk decision to shut down live cattle export to Indonesia.

This devastated regional communities that depended on the trade. Families lost their livelihoods and businesses collapsed.

This decision was later found to be unlawful by the Federal Court. The Nationals welcomed this when in Government, paving the way for compensation to be paid.

Now Labor have written to producers saying they will not be paying what the industry believes it is due. In fact Labor have offered to pay only a quarter of what it cost the industry.

This is a betrayal of hardworking Australians who have suffered immensely. It shows a disregard for the hardships endured by our farmers and undermines the principles of justice and accountability.

Labor are about to start all this again with the live sheep export industry.

Our communities deserve better than this.

They deserve a Government that will treat them with respect and appreciate what they do.

This is what you’ll get if the Coalition is elected.

Thank you for your support.

Kind regards,

David Littleproud
Leader of the Nationals
