John,

Citizens Alliance of New Hampshire proudly supported House Bill 10 (HB 10), the Parental Bill of Rights, which recently passed the New Hampshire House with a strong vote of 212-161.

This bill is now on its way to the Senate, where we expect it to pass easily before landing on the Governor’s desk for approval.

HB 10 ensures that parents remain the primary decision-makers for their children, guaranteeing their right to be fully informed and involved in critical areas such as educational decisions, medical choices, and the overall well-being of their kids.

This legislation reaffirms a fundamental truth: parents, NOT schools or the government, hold the ultimate responsibility for their children’s upbringing.

We are optimistic that this bill will soon become law, strengthening the role of families across our state.

Unfortunately, not all proposed legislation supports families in the same way...

We urge you to take a stand against House Bill 553, a proposal that threatens to undermine good parenting rather than protect it.

HB 553 would broaden the definition of child abuse by replacing “safety” with vague terms like “physical, emotional, or psychological welfare.”

This shift could invite excessive government intrusion into family life, turning the Division for Children, Youth and Families into the “well-being police.”

Richard Wexler, executive director of the National Coalition for Child Protection Reform, warns that the bill “
provides not one iota of additional help” to families and instead risks punishing parents for normal, everyday decisions.
