Walk Through the Texas Revolution
Saturday and Sunday, March 29-30, Presidio la Bahía, Goliad
Join us at Presidio La Bahía [ [link removed] ] for the 39th annual Goliad Massacre and Living History Program. This event commemorates the Battle of Coleto Creek, a fateful turning point in Texas' struggle for independence that culminated in the Goliad Massacre.
Experience the past firsthand by exploring reenactor camps, interacting with living historians, and strolling through the historic grounds of Presidio La Bahía. On Saturday evening, enjoy a special Candlelight Tour.

Celebrate 10 Years of Historic Preservation Tax Credits
The Texas Historic Preservation Tax Credit (THPTC) program [ [link removed] ] is a state initiative that incentivizes the rehabilitation of historic buildings by offering a 25% tax credit on eligible expenses. Established by the 83rd Texas Legislature in 2013, the program became effective on January 1, 2015, and has since driven significant private investment in preserving Texas' architectural heritage.
Over the past decade, it has certified 496 completed projects out of more than 1,100 applications, generating $5.3 billion in total investments, with $3.9 billion qualifying for tax credits.

Historical markers [ [link removed] ] are a key part of the Texas Historical Commission's (THC) efforts to preserve and share the state's rich history. They cover many topics, from the stories behind historic homes and buildings to the history of local churches, military sites, and significant events. Additionally, they recognize the contributions of influential individuals and organizations that have shaped Texas communities.

Apply to Host the Smithsonian
We’re looking for six lucky small towns across the state to host the Smithsonian’s traveling exhibition, "Spark! Places of Innovation". "Spark!" examines inventions happening in small towns that change local life and sometimes far beyond.
