3 African Cities Restore Nature to Revitalize Their Rivers ( [link removed] )
*******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
As Africa’s cities rapidly expand, their water supplies are shrinking. Urban sprawl and increased farming are degrading landscapes that are critical to sustaining and filtering fresh water. At the same time, clearing natural landscapes heightens the risk of dangerous floods.
Nature offers solutions. Groups in Rwanda, Ethiopia and South Africa are working with WRI and partners to re-green their cities and the surrounding lands. Their efforts are helping to revitalize local rivers and protect water supplies, all while boosting local livelihoods.

***************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
As the Trump administration slashes U.S. federal funding, some Republican lawmakers are rallying ( [link removed] ) behind a call to preserve Biden-era clean energy tax credits. Thanks to their innovative “direct pay” provision, the credits are bringing not just clean power, but new jobs, affordable electricity bills, cleaner air and other benefits to communities in both red and blue states.

On a former palm oil plantation in the Amazon, local farmers are using sustainable techniques to help bring the once-barren land back to life — showing that despite popular beliefs, healthy forests and food production can go hand-in-hand.
