** Building a Stronger Utah Through Sports and Community
------------------------------------------------------------
Utah has long been the state of sport — we are also the state of extreme sport.
This June, we will host the Red Bull Soapbox Race ([link removed]) in Salt Lake City. Teams will race their custom-built soapbox cars down Capitol Hill, and we invite all Utahns to get involved whether it’s by building a car or cheering on from the sidelines.
But we’re not stopping there. In 2030, Salt Lake City will welcome thousands of athletes for the State Games of America ([link removed]) , strengthening our sports culture and paving the way for the 2034 Winter Olympics—when Utah will once again shine on the world stage.
We’re also thrilled to welcome League One Volleyball ([link removed]) (LOVB) Salt Lake, adding another exciting layer to our growing sports scene.
This all culminates in more than just moments of competition—they’re opportunities to build community, connect, and showcase the spirit of innovation and collaboration that defines Utah.
** Recognizing Utah’s Finest
------------------------------------------------------------
A special thank you to the Utah Highway Patrol officers who represented our great state at the presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C. Their commitment to service makes us all proud, and it’s a privilege to know they’re always working to keep us safe — no matter where they’re called.

** Correctional Health Services
------------------------------------------------------------
Gov. Cox met with the staff of the State Prison Correctional Health Services (CHS) facility to review its progress and ongoing initiatives. Their work is essential — not only for those receiving care but for their successful rehabilitation and reintegration into the community.
Many CHS employees began as corrections officers, dedicating themselves to earning nursing or therapy degrees. Some have served for more than 30 years, not just fulfilling a role, but elevating the entire correctional system.
The Utah Department of Health and Human Services ([link removed]) plays a critical role in both the correctional system and the well-being of Utah communities, ensuring quality care that supports rehabilitation and a path forward.
** Honoring Fallen Soldiers
------------------------------------------------------------
It was a solemn honor to welcome the families of fallen soldiers to the Capitol. Every year, we wish this room were empty as we gather to remember the lives, service, and sacrifice of those who are no longer with us.
To the families who have given so much: Utah stands with you. We can never truly repay the debt we owe, but we will never forget your loved ones and their commitment to duty, honor, and country.

** Addressing Housing Solutions
------------------------------------------------------------
Lt. Gov. Henderson addressed the Utah Realtors Association and legislators about a critical ongoing project — tackling the state’s affordable housing shortage through the Utah First Homes program. The key to solving this issue isn’t subsidies but a significant increase in housing supply. We must build!
