Team,

This Wednesday at 7 pm, Yvette will go toe to toe with her primary opponents in NY1’s 9th Congressional District Democratic Debate.

Yvette will use this moment to address the blatant acts of institutionalized racism that have rocked our community over the past weekend, along with the fault lines revealed by the COVID-19 crisis in housing, healthcare, and employment. She will discuss her plans to address these issues and more.

In fact, Yvette has already begun to address the events of the weekend. Earlier today, Yvette joined Congressman Hakeem Jeffries and other elected officials in calling on the NYPD and Mayor de Blasio to fire Officer Vincent J. D'Andraia, the officer who violently shoved a peaceful protestor in Brooklyn.

Thoughts and prayers will not solve this problem or help ease tensions throughout the country. We cannot afford to sit on the sidelines in light of the injustices taking place before our eyes. We must make drastic changes to policing in this country and that starts with removing all the bad apples in law enforcement like Officer D'Andraia, who has a history of abuse on the force and has failed to uphold his oath.

Yvette will speak to these issues and more on Wednesday night. We hope you’ll join us on June 3rd at 7 pm on NY1 as she demonstrates why she is exactly the leader our community needs in this pivotal moment.
