We need the whole movement with us this year
Friend,
A new year. A new president. A new Congress. And a familiar problem. The last Trump administration was filled with hostile drug war ideas and constant attempts to roll back our progress.
And so far, we’re seeing that we have little reason to expect it to be different this time. In fact, it’s likely to be worse — drugs and people who use drugs are already being blamed for problems ranging from tariffs to the border. We need the power of our movement to be stronger than ever.
That’s why I’m asking you to join the Drug Policy Alliance as an official member today, when all new membership gifts are being TRIPLE-matched up to $25,000.

By joining as a member today, you’ll deliver the funding and resources to drive our movement forward. And you will show solidarity with people like Susan, who lost her son Tyler to the overdose crisis.
Susan says that, “Tyler loved life. Even with all of the darkness that came with his struggles, his presence always made the world feel lighter... His smile and laugh were infectious.”
Like so many people in our country, Tyler became addicted to opioids—and he desperately wanted treatment.
“But Tyler faced barrier after barrier from the system, from insurance companies, from the criminal justice system, that prevented him from getting the help he needed.”
You and I both know he deserved so much better. That’s why we can’t stop fighting. Especially not now.
Instead of increasing services and treatments that could help people like Tyler, the Trump Administration is threatening to take them away and telling people and families to fend for themselves. We must protect funding for treatment, overdose prevention, and other lifesaving services.

Today, Susan uses her voice to speak out in Tyler’s memory, demanding a compassionate response to this crisis. She’s a member and ally of DPA. She knows it will take all of us to end the drug war and embrace a health-centered approach to drug use. And we’re both counting on you today.
Every single member of this movement has a difference to make. And your new member support will play a critical part, especially when your gift will be TRIPLED by our limited-time TRIPLE match.

It may seem overwhelming, especially at this current moment, but I know that we have the power to end the drug war.
Despite whatever old, failed drug war policies the new presidential administration tries to resurrect, I know that we will win. Because we know what works.
So we must keep moving forward, no matter what stands in our way. To honor and remember young people like Tyler. And fight in solidarity with every parent like Susan.
In solidarity,
Kassandra Frederique
Executive Director
Drug Policy Alliance
P.S. Friend, it’s already gearing up to be a challenging year, but there is a path forward. We’re counting on you to join DPA right now — when it will be TRIPLE-matched up to $25,000.
