Let me be blunt with you John: The Trump administration is trying to destroy the VA.
Slashing 80,000 VA workers—when they’re already understaffed—will gut the care and benefits that veterans earned in service to this country. It’s cruel and disgraceful.
Republican politicians will wave the American flag, hold their “Support the Troops” banners high, and call themselves patriots when election season comes around. Then they turn around and stab veterans in the back like this.
My fellow veterans wrote this country a blank check when they stepped up to serve—we’ve earned VA care and benefits. Now Trump and his goons want to slash support for veterans all to fund their BS tax giveaways for corporations and billionaires.
When I took an oath to the Constitution at 17, I was willing to die for our country. That’s why I’ll always stand up for America and my fellow veterans. This isn’t the first attack on veterans—and it won’t be the last.
Just weeks ago, we saw more than a thousand staff fired from the VA. Then 1,400 more VA workers. Then 800+ VA contracts targeted that fund getting veterans exposed to toxic burn pits access to their record to prove their claims, cancer care for veterans, and more.
And now? 80,000 more VA jobs on the chopping block.
This is a betrayal to our veterans and to our country.
You don’t send young Americans off to fight wars then turn your back on them.
I stepped up to serve in uniform because I believe deeply in what America is and can be. And in Congress, I’m still fighting for our country—making sure every veteran gets the care and benefits they’ve earned, standing up to those trying to gut and privatize the VA, and working to bring good jobs, strong unions, and real investment to Western Pennsylvania.
This fight isn’t easy. The billionaires and special interests backing these attacks on the VA don’t want leaders like me standing in their way. That’s why I need you with me.
