Designated wilderness areas, national parks, military bases, and more make up a huge chunk of our state — and the Trump administration’s recklessness has suddenly called into the stewardship of these lands. Federal workers have been cut, fire prevention programs abandoned, and basic maintenance at federal facilities isn’t being done.
These cuts go well beyond impacts to hikers, bikers, and offroading enthusiasts. They have been enacted without Congressional approval and are designed to hamstring the basic functions of our federal government. We need to push back at all levels of government — and at Emerge New Mexico, we’re working hard to recruit and train Democratic women and nonbinary leaders to run for office.
