This week, the House passed an unpopular budget resolution that would
inflict huge cuts to Medicaid and other programs. Why? So Trump can take
the savings from Medicaid cuts and finance trillions in tax breaks for the
rich. So while Elon, Zuckerberg, Trump and the rest of the Billionaire
Boys’ Club would pay millions less in taxes per year, people who depend on
Medicaid would be left with a choice – pay more for healthcare or go
without it entirely. This proposition isn’t cost-effective, it's cruel.
We must put pressure on the Senate to oppose this proposed budget
resolution that will cost more than it will save in the long run – both in

Expanding and protecting Medicaid is not just a healthcare issue, it’s a
public safety imperative. When individuals have access to mental health
services, substance use treatment, and preventive care through Medicaid –
we all benefit. Crime is reduced, incarceration rates fall, and emergency
rooms, first responders, and law enforcement are less burdened.
Programs like these are an investment in communities while strengthening
public health at a lower cost to taxpayers – and we must protect them.
