Congress: Get the Lead Out of Our Water!
There is no safe level of lead in drinking water, yet millions of families in the U.S. drink lead-contaminated water every day. And right now, Republican leaders in Congress are attacking a Biden rule that would replace lead service pipes over the next decade.
From Allentown, PA, to Bernardsville, NJ, to Majopac, NY, Food & Water Watch rallied to demand that lawmakers put our health first. In the next few months, we’ll continue pushing representatives to reject any efforts to repeal this Lead Out of Water Rule!

ON THE GROUND
Saying No to Nuclear at the New York State Capitol
In her 2025 State of the State address, Governor Kathy Hochul embraced dirty nuclear power in New York. But we know that nuclear energy is expensive, dangerous, and a false solution to climate change.
We rallied outside the State of the State, distributing flyers to state lawmakers urging them to oppose these plans and fight for real affordable, clean energy solutions. Learn more about the dangers of nuclear energy and why it’s a false solution to climate change.

Victory! FDA bans cancer-causing red food dye
Red Dye No. 3 has been banned in cosmetics and topical drugs since 1990, as research on animals shows it causes cancer when ingested. Yet somehow it has been allowed in all kinds of food.
In 2022, we joined allies to petition the Food and Drug Administration to finally ban the dye from food and drinks. In January, the FDA granted our petition and officially banned Red 3! Now the FDA must build on this win with more science-backed policy changes, like supporting a wider ban on harmful chemicals in food.
You can donate your stock to Food & Water Watch!
Last year, several Food & Water Watch supporters donated their Tesla stock to us to protest the Musk-Trump administration.
Once praised as an environmental-minded CEO, Musk has now partnered with Trump to loot our government and threaten our food, water, and climate. This shift underscores that billionaires and corporations won’t save us. It’s up to us to pool our efforts and resources toward a more just and sustainable future for all. Learn more about donating any stock to Food & Water Watch.
How Volunteers Power Victories for Our Food, Water, and Climate
Since 2005, Food & Water Watch has grown from a dozen organizers to a network of more than 2,500 volunteers across the country fighting for our food, water, and climate. Thanks to folks who dedicate their time, talents, and energy to these issues, we’ve been able to protect our shared resources and win real improvements in people’s lives.
No one is in this fight alone. We all have the power to connect with folks who are moved to act, just as we are. Join the Food & Water Watch community from anywhere!
Together, we can win the major changes needed to protect our families, communities, and health, and defend our food, water, and climate.

Congress: Don’t Defund Safe Food & Clean Water
As Musk and Trump take a wrecking ball to key federal agencies, Congress is now moving to pass extreme budget cuts to pay for massive tax breaks for billionaires.
Billions of dollars would be taken away from food and water safety, food assistance, healthcare, and environmental protections to fund massive tax cuts for corporations and billionaires.
But with Republicans holding an extremely narrow majority in the House – we can stop this agenda from moving forward.
Tell your members of Congress: Don’t defund safe food and clean water!
Livable Future LIVE: World Water Day & Microplastics
Microplastics are becoming increasingly common in our drinking water, and researchers are identifying new health risks associated with these tiny bits of plastic pollution every day.
On Wednesday, March 19, we invite you to hear from Food & Water Watch Researcher Natalie Balbuena and Public Water for All Campaign Director Mary Grant about the dangers of microplastics in your water.
At this Livable Future LIVE! event, we’ll discuss the human health risks we know so far and how we’re helping communities test for and remove these contaminants. RSVP to join us!
