Dear friend,

This month we worked with our partners Centre for Young Lives, the Children and Young People’s Mental Health Coalition and Young Minds on the Future Minds ([link removed]) campaign, calling on the Government to invest in children’s mental health and unlock a healthier future. We shared a new briefing ([link removed]) exploring how the actions of private companies can affect people’s mental health. And today we published a report ([link removed]) exploring how early support for families living in poverty could have long-term wellbeing benefits across generations.

We recently shared a review of our anti-racism work ([link removed]) so far and are dedicated to taking forward its recommendations. And we mark Eating Disorders Awareness Week with a blog from Hope Virgo ([link removed]) on the fight for better treatment.

At the end of this week, Ramadan will begin, providing Muslims across the globe an opportunity to reconnect with their faith and prioritise spiritual wellbeing. This can be a time of peace and dedication but for some this also comes with increased pressure and struggle with managing daily demands.

We wish all those observing a blessed Ramadan.

Women living in poverty or with experience of trauma face higher risks of experiencing perinatal mental health problems.

This report shares the evaluation findings of the Healthy Little Minds programme in Nottingham, and explores the impact of early, targeted and flexible support on parent-infant bonding and mental health.

The commercial determinants of mental health

Low pay, air pollution, and insecure housing harm people’s mental health – and put them at greater risk of harm from smoking, alcohol and unhealthy food. This briefing explores how business practices can influence the public’s mental health and how to mitigate the risks they pose.

Future Minds

Mental health problems cast a shadow over young people's lives. Too many children are going without the support they need to manage their mental health and thrive. We’ve set out a costed plan of actions the Government must take now to turn the tide on rising levels of distress and unlock economic growth.

Anti-racism at Centre for Mental Health

We're committed to taking an anti-racist approach in every aspect of our work at the Centre. To help us understand how we’re doing in this regard, we commissioned an independent review of our anti-racism work and are dedicated to taking forward its recommendations, including:

1. Building a culture of solidarity that works alongside the wider racial justice movement
2. Building a talented, diverse team to forefront our work in fighting inequalities
3. Contributing to the wider anti-racist movement
4. Establishing underpinning structures to aid progress.
