Email from Rep. Hinson Friend, Last week, I helped introduce the bipartisan Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act with Rep. Adrian Smith, which would allow E15 to be sold nationwide year-round. Securing consumer choice for nationwide, year-round E15 is an essential step to unleash domestic energy production and lower costs at the pump—all while supporting Iowa's ethanol industry and producers. As your representative, I will continue advocating for biofuels as a commonsense, cost-effective, and clean-energy solution that not only supports Iowa's economy but advances America's energy sector. I’m especially excited that the Senate recently confirmed USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins and my former House colleague EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin—and look forward to working with them to double down on policies that help support American energy dominance. The EPA took steps to increase the use of biofuels during President Trump’s first term, and I believe he will continue working to expand the use of biofuels nationwide. Just last week, the Trump Administration took swift action to hold Brazil accountable for their unfair ethanol tariffs—something I have long advocated for. I’ve said this before and I’ll say this again: it’s an all of the above, and all of the below strategy when it comes to leading in energy dominance. I look forward to continued work with the USDA, the EPA, and President Trump in advancing the biofuels industry in Iowa and nationwide so we can support our farmers and fight for fair trade deals on the global stage. Best, On the Road Continuing my 22 County Tour Earlier this week, I visited the Waverly Children's Building in Pathways Behavioral Services. Advancing access to pediatric and mental healthcare in Iowa is among my top priorities, and it was great hearing directly from the people who provide those critical services in Iowa's Second District. I also went to the Waterloo Regional Airport where they walked me through their operation. We had a great discussion about aviation safety and the importance of regional airports to Iowa’s economy. Many Iowans rely on local regional airports like Waterloo for their travel, and it is a priority of mine that they continue to feel safe flying in and out of Iowa. My last stop on Monday was meeting with the dedicated team of health care professionals at Grundy County Memorial Hospital where they provide life-saving care to Iowans. I am committed to ensuring all Iowans, especially those in rural areas, can access quality health care. I want to say a special thank you to everyone at Grundy County Memorial Hospital for the reliable care you provide to our communities! I continued my 22 County Tour commemorating CTE Month and National FFA Week at Aplington-Parkersburg High School. We had a fantastic discussion with FFA members about how agricultural education equips them with the skills they need for success beyond the classroom. Their passion for agriculture and hands-on learning is truly inspiring! While I was at Aplington-Parkersburg High School, I had to stop by Falcon Fuel, a fully student-run coffee shop that gives students hands-on experience in business management, customer service, and entrepreneurship. Programs like this demonstrate the impact of career & technical education, helping students build real-world skills that will serve them well in the future. Great work by these future entrepreneurs! I also visited Mason City High School to learn more about the Work Ready Program. This incredible program is driven by community need and helps Iowa high schoolers jumpstart careers in areas like health care and manufacturing, while giving them the tools to start their career without having to leave Mason City. Meeting With Iowa's Incredible Leadership I had the chance to check in with the best governor in the country, our very own Governor Reynolds! I’m grateful for the governor's leadership and friendship. Iowa is truly a model for the rest of the nation under Governor Reynolds. While in Des Moines, I addressed my former colleagues and had the opportunity to catch up with old friends in the State House—including my freshman class from 2017 pictured above—and Senate Caucus meetings. I’m so grateful for their work to make Iowa the best place to live, work, and raise a family! It was a pleasure to see my good friend and Iowa’s incredible new lieutenant governor this week. Lieutenant Governor Cournoyer will continue to do amazing things for Iowans in this role! Lastly, I had a fantastic meeting with Iowa Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Grant Menke where we discussed challenges facing family farmers, the importance of conservation, and the Farm Bill. I'm thankful for all his work advocating for Iowa agriculture! In Case You Missed It: Quick Hits For an even closer look into my work in Congress, follow me on Truth Social! I thanked President Trump and Tom Homan for their work securing our border and keeping Iowans safe. I commemorated the leadership of America’s presidents who have shaped our great nation. I promoted my bipartisan SWAMP Act on Brett Baier's podcast, which would move federal agencies out of Washington D.C. and drain the swamp. I thanked President Trump for supporting American families and expanding access to IVF. I acknowledged FFA Week and thanked them for all their work supporting the next generation of farmers. I thanked Secretary Rubio and President Trump for taking decisive action against dangerous cartels and gangs. I wished Marion Police Chief Kitsmiller well on his well-deserved retirement and thanked him for his years of service to others. I recapped my 22 County Tour after visiting seven different counties to hear directly from my constituents. In the News This morning, I joined Newsmax to talk about DOGE’s successes rooting out government waste. The era of big government waste is over, and I'm thankful we finally have someone in the White House who respects taxpayers’ hard-earned money and knows the work Americans put in every day to provide for their families. Click here to watch my reaction to some Democrats defending the egregious abuses of taxpayer dollars uncovered by DOGE While in Des Moines, I joined WHO-13 to discuss my bipartisan SWAMP Act that would move certain federal agencies out of D.C., cut government waste, and drain the swamp!
