Email from Tarrant County Republican Party Our First Report to the TX DOGE Committee PURCHASE MAGA GALA TICKETS First DOGE Report Last week we teased our government waste report to the Texas House's DOGE Committee, and the first one is finally here. At the bottom of this section, you can find the entire report, but we'll put a few highlights here: The Texas Government spends $5 million per year on late payment fees. Six-figure foreign travel expenditures from employee retirement funds. $11 million spent on "long-distance communications charges." $60 million per year for the Texas Lottery to pay its friends. 100% of Broadband Infrastructure Fund spending has gone to late fees and consultants. $15 million per year is given to organizations like the Austin Gay Men's Chorus. $21 million per year for Media Subscriptions ($30k per year to the left-wing, anti-Abbott Quorum Report). This is just scratching the surface. Just this week, we've identified at least $200,000,000 of clearly wasteful spending. But it's worse than that. Some expenditures are covered up to the degree that we can't fully identify any wasteful or fraudulent elements, but are still obviously suspect. We hope that the Committee will use its power to compel testimony and documents to get to the bottom of these suspicious expenditures. Between the suspicious contracts, consulting fees, and other expenditures, there is an opportunity for the State of Texas to save billions of dollars per year. For example, just one business consultancy firm receives $2 billion per year in taxpayer dollars. The entire 6-page report can be found on our website here. It will be distributed to the members of the Committee as well with the hope that they will take quick action to cut waste in our government. This will not be the only report - next week's will contain massive waste. Last Chance Tickets! We have been able to add a few tables so there are some VIP seats left! Lottery Scandal If you read our report to the DOGE Committee, you know that there's a massive spending problem with the Texas Lottery Commission. They give out $60 million per year in "incentive bonuses" to lottery retailers. But did you know that these incentives are a small portion of a potentially criminal scandal that the Texas Senate is investigating? Daniel Greer of Texas Scorecard has done several deep dives into the issues around the Lottery Commission, so we'll point you to those for a thorough investigation. You can click here for a report on the Commission's refusal to address money laundering allegations in the Texas Senate. Another report details a $1 million ticket sold to someone living in Shanghai, China. The Lottery Commission has even come under fire for allowing Texas Lottery tickets to be sold in Europe and Africa. The Lottery Commission is up for Sunset this cycle, meaning re-approval for the Lottery Commission to continue to exist requires the approval of the Legislature. Unfortunately, the Legislature rarely puts a government agency out to pasture - but this time could always be different if you call your representatives and tell them to end the Lottery Commission. There's a first time for everything. You can just do things. Share The Roundup with Friends! Thank you for reading The Roundup, the #1 newsletter for conservatives in Tarrant County.
