It’s hard to keep up with the chaotic news cycle, so here’s a quick update: The Trump administration is still freezing energy, environmental, and infrastructure grants despite two federal court orders forbidding it from doing so.

This isn't normal—Trump is rapidly consolidating and exercising power in egregious ways, moving our country toward a state of lawlessness and testing the limits of how much he can get away with. His administration’s illegal funding blockade of critical Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Energy (DOE) programs defies the Constitution, multiple federal laws, and a series of recent judicial directives explicitly directing them to resume funding commitments.

Not to mention, it’s making it harder for Americans to get clean air and water and risks driving up energy bills.

Many representatives in Congress are demanding answers, and we’re also seeing the Trump administration fumbling with attempts at doing damage control. That means public pressure is working—and that we must keep it up. The administration is counting on our silence and overwhelm to help them get away with this.

Trump and “co-president” Elon Musk want to gut federal funding under the guise of “waste,” but a lot of the programs on the chopping block aren’t wasteful—they’re essential. Programs that we all depend on to keep our families fed and healthy, help pay our bills, heat our homes in the winter, and support the communities still reeling from recent climate disasters.

Our government is supposed to work for us, not against us—and this flagrant disregard for the rule of law must end. Tell your members of Congress to fight back and obstruct as much of Trump’s cuts as possible, so we can keep vital federal funding flowing.
