40 Years Ago Today, What Inspired Red Ribbon Week?

February 7, 2025 marks *40 years* since the kidnapping of Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, a DEA Special Agent who had come dangerously close to exposing top leaders of a multi-billion dollar drug pipeline in Mexico.

The kidnapping, torture, and murder of Kiki was an event that inspired the creation of the annual Red Ribbon Week – *October 23-31* – when more than 80 million young people and adults show their commitment to a healthy, drug-free lifestyle by wearing or displaying the red ribbon.
