Steven Forsythe and coauthors calculate that antiretroviral therapies
have already cut annual HIV death rates by more than half relative to
what they would have been, from 2.5 million to 1.1 million per year.

A CLOSER LOOK-Nonprofit Hospitals

A new JAMA study examines aggressive tactics that some hospitals are
taking over unpaid bills, including suing patients. Out of the hospitals
surveyed, a large number of those that garnish wages are nonprofit
hospitals. A Health Affairs study from 2016 found that seven of the top
ten most profitable hospitals
were
nonprofit.
