Vought sought to strip protections from 88% of the agency’s workforce and make employees across agencies fire-able at will

Friend,

The Trump White House has nominated Russell Vought for director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

We need all hands on deck to stop him.

TAKE ACTION

President Trump is working to seize more power — including powers that belong to Congress — and trying to escape oversight and accountability. Instead of acting as a check on presidential power, Vought made it clear in his confirmation hearing testimony that he will support Trump’s unlawful orders that undermine our Constitution, many of which are already underway.

Friend, your senators will vote to confirm or deny Vought. The time to take action is now — click here to tell your senators to vote NO on Russell Vought’s confirmation.

TAKE ACTION

Vought served as OMB director during Trump’s first presidency. During that time, he was a key architect of “Schedule F,” a plan to dismantle and undermine the nonpartisan, performance-based federal civil service. This policy would allow any president to purge federal agencies of nonpartisan experts, leaving some agencies and departments gutted, while packing others with subservient ideologues.

He also sought to strip protections from 88 percent of the agency’s workforce and make employees across agencies fireable at will.

Vought’s outward contempt for the civil servants who help people across the country relying on benefits and services from the federal government makes him woefully unfit to hold this office. He has stated that “We want the bureaucrats to be traumatically affected. When they wake up in the morning, we want them to not want to go to work because they are increasingly viewed as the villains” and “We want to put them in trauma.”

TAKE ACTION

At this moment, we must stand up to defend our most sacred democratic institutions. Thank you for taking action when it matters most.

In solidarity,

Your friends at the Southern Poverty Law Center
