James, the Trump
administration JUST launched an investigation into NPR and PBS — part of
his war on the truth and effort to DESTROY public media.

This is an EXISTENTIAL threat. Trump’s FCC Chair even said, “Congress is
actively considering whether to stop requiring taxpayers to subsidize NPR
and PBS.” By gutting public media, Trump will empower the right-wing
disinformation machine.

Trump and his billionaire backers have declared an all out War on Truth.
They’re coming after our independent media…eager to get it out of the way
so they can easily spread disinformation AND rake in billions by sending
us to the platforms they own to get our news. 

“NO MORE FUNDING FOR NPR, A TOTAL SCAM!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. Musk
quickly followed suit, labeling public media as “propaganda” and outlining
clear plans to cut hundreds of millions in funding for the Corporation for
Public Broadcasting, which funds NPR and PBS.

With a $30 million budget shortfall that’s already forced NPR to lay off
staff, public media stations are not in a position to launch a massive
campaign to save themselves. 

But we are.

numbers and unleashing a huge lobbying push on Congress. But to win this

Republicans have been trying since the NIXON administration to kill NPR
and PBS – and we’ve stopped them every. single. time. But experts warn
that this time could be different. 

Musk has made it crystal clear that public media is on the top of his list
for government cuts. And many Republicans are gleefully going along for
the ride. Marjorie Taylor Greene just threatened to summon PBS to testify
before her committee in Congress. 

It’s a chilling and blatant attack on our free media. It’s not hard to
imagine what could be next – like an editorial ‘takeover’ to make these
the mouth-pieces of the administration.

It’s not just NPR and PBS. Last year, Trump filed a defamation case
against ABC. And instead of fighting back, ABC agreed to settle for a
shocking $16 million. Emboldened, Trump is now coming after other news
outlets when he doesn’t like their coverage.

As CNN’s Jim Acosta said this week: “It is never a good time to bow down
to a tyrant … it’s the job of the press to hold power to account”. 

This is the bold stance we must all hold in face of theseIt’s terrifying
attacks on a free press — but the good news is that Trump can’t carry this
out alone. To make the public media cuts a reality, Republicans will need
almost unanimous support in Congress. So we’re going to raise the
temperature to make sure they’re ALL hearing from thousands of
constituents to ensure that a ‘yes’ vote is a risk Congress members don’t
want to take.
