Holocaust Remembrance Week, January 27-31
Texas Holocaust Remembrance Week [ [link removed] ] was established by the Legislature in 2019 to acknowledge the Holocaust’s ongoing significance. There are four Holocaust museums in the state where you can learn more about this topic and reflect year-round:
* Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum [ [link removed] ]
* El Paso Holocaust Museum and Study Center [ [link removed] ]
* Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio [ [link removed] ]
* Holocaust Museum Houston [ [link removed] ]
Additionally, the Texas Holocaust, Genocide, and Antisemitism Advisory Commission has a variety of resources, including approved classroom education and stories of Texan survivors and liberators accessible anytime.
The importance of Holocaust education and reflection continues throughout the year. These museums and resources provide ongoing opportunities to learn, remember, and work towards preventing future atrocities:

Remembering Iwo Jima's Brave Warriors
Friday-Sunday, February 21-23, Fredericksburg
As part of the 80th anniversary of World War II, The National Museum of the Pacific War [ [link removed] ] will host an Iwo Jima Commemoration [ [link removed] ] to honor and remember those who served and sacrificed for our nation.
The three days of events will include a dedication, concert, and battle reenactment.

A recent recipient, Louie Mueller Barbecue in Taylor, opened its doors in 1949. Described as a "cathedral of smoke," the joint was honored with the “American Classics” award by the James Beard Foundation, the first barbecue restaurant in the country to receive the honor.
