Join Us for a Virtual Event with Nandita Bajaj!
Join us for a virtual event featuring Nandita Bajaj, Executive Director of Population Balance [[link removed]] , as she examines the roles of population growth and over-consumption in today’s most pressing global crises—climate change, resource scarcity, species extinction, and biodiversity collapse.
While leading scientific authorities recognize these connections, there has been widespread dismissal of the consequences of population growth within major global agencies, particularly the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) [[link removed]] . Nandita will highlight how this denial undermines the UN’s objectives surrounding human rights and sustainable development.
This presentation will take place this Wednesday, January 29 th , at 2pm ET/11am PT . Register to join below!

PopEd Winter Theme: Teaching Media Literacy
This quarter, the Population Education team is sharing resources for educators on a timely subject: teaching media literacy. Media literacy, or the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, create, and act using all forms of communication, is one of the most critical skills for today’s young people to learn. While this has always been an important subject to teach, the rise of AI and social media algorithms that often promote misleading or false news has made ensuring that the next generation masters this skill ever more critical.
Check out the PopEd blog introducing this theme and previewing some of the resources we plan to offer over the next few months to help teachers explore this topic in their own classrooms.

We Can End it Together

On Friday evening, President Trump reinstated the Global Gag Rule, one of the most damaging policies ever enacted on foreign assistance funding. When in place, it blocks U.S. federal funding for non-governmental organizations that provide abortion services, provide counseling or referrals for abortions, or advocate to decriminalize abortion—even when those activities are funded independently of U.S. aid. Lost funding disrupts critical services and costs lives, all while setting back global efforts to ensure that everyone everywhere can access reproductive health care and family planning.
Learn more about this and our other policy priorities, and see how you can help us fight back by passing the Global HER Act, which will end the Global Gag Rule once and for all.
