** Update on 68th Legislature
------------------------------------------------------------
The 68th Legislature's Mighty Dems! Left to right: Ivan Posey, Chris Rothfuss, Liz Storer, Mike Gierau, Trey Sherwood, Karlee Provenza, Mike Yin and Ken Chestek.
Our Democratic delegation will need all the help they can get to staunch the flow of noxious legislation. There is an overwhelming amount of information to process, and perhaps focusing on one or two issues of particular significance to you is the best way to avoid burnout. The State party has an excellenthttps://wyodems.org/2025-billtrack/legislative tracker ([link removed]) and you can select specific topics. You can also sign up for their weekly updatehttps://wyodems.org/contact-page/here ([link removed]) . ([link removed]) Check out Wyofile ([link removed]) for excellent in-depth coverage and the Jackson Hole Daily ([link removed]) has Capital Corner with Jasmine Hall reporting from Cheyenne during the session.
The 68th legislature is in its second week and the Freedom Caucus is hard at work sponsoring awful bills, reintroducing last year's failed bills and generally trying to make life harder for Wyoming residents. Many thanks to Julien Hass who is doing an excellent job tracking some of the worst ones. Worth noting that running these bills early in the session will allow the legislature an opportunity to over ride any vetos.
*****The House Labor, Heatlh & Social Services committee will hold hearings on the following two bills tomorrow (1/22) at 8 a.m. Similar legislation was vetoed by Governor Gordon last year. They are disingenuous and will further hamper access to reproductive healthcare in the Equality State.
HB 0042 - Regulation of Surgical Abortions ([link removed])
HB 0064 - Chemical Abortions Ultrasound Requirement ([link removed])
Meanwhile, there are two additional bills that have been introduced that seek to inhibit access to abortion care.
HB 0159 - Protecting Water from Chemical Abortion Waste ([link removed]) ( ([link removed]) note the legislature doesn't seem to care about other harmful chemicals and pollutants tainting the water supply)
SF 0125 - Definining Healthcare and Protecting the People's Welfare ([link removed]) ([link removed]) this attempts to end run Wyoming's Constitution which guarantees competent adults the right to choose their healthcare.
Also of note:
HB0032 - What is a Woman Act ([link removed])
Seriously - another example of a national agenda item that contravenes Wyoming's Mind Your Own Business traditions. Government overreach strikes again.
HB0172 - Repeal Gun Free Zones ([link removed])
This bill made it out of committee yesterday morning and is going through amendments and headed to the house floor.
HB0116 - Driver's Licenses - Unauthorized Aliens Restrictions ([link removed])
Specifies that driver's licenses and driving operating privilege cards issued by other jurisdictions to unauthorized aliens are invalid in Wyoming.
We could go on and on but ultimately, hope you will use the resources listed above to stay informed. We will be publishing more frequently during the legislative session. Please reach out to us:
