The 68th Legislature's Mighty Dems! Left to right: Ivan Posey, Chris Rothfuss, Liz Storer, Mike Gierau, Trey Sherwood, Karlee Provenza, Mike Yin and Ken Chestek.
Our Democratic delegation will need all the help they can get to staunch the flow of noxious legislation. There is an overwhelming amount of information to process, and perhaps focusing on one or two issues of particular significance to you is the best way to avoid burnout. The State party has an excellentlegislative tracker and you can select specific topics. You can also sign up for their weekly updatehere. Check out Wyofile for excellent in-depth coverage and the Jackson Hole Dailyhas Capital Corner with Jasmine Hall reporting from Cheyenne during the session.
The 68th legislature is in its second week and the Freedom Caucus is hard at work sponsoring awful bills, reintroducing last year's failed bills and generally trying to make life harder for Wyoming residents. Many thanks to Julien Hass who is doing an excellent job tracking some of the worst ones. Worth noting that running these bills early in the session will allow the legislature an opportunity to over ride any vetos.
*****The House Labor, Heatlh & Social Services committee will hold hearings on the following two bills tomorrow (1/22) at 8 a.m. Similar legislation was vetoed by Governor Gordon last year. They are disingenuous and will further hamper access to reproductive healthcare in the Equality State.
HB0032 - What is a Woman Act
Seriously - another example of a national agenda item that contravenes Wyoming's Mind Your Own Business traditions. Government overreach strikes again.
HB0172 - Repeal Gun Free Zones
This bill made it out of committee yesterday morning and is going through amendments and headed to the house floor.
We could go on and on but ultimately, hope you will use the resources listed above to stay informed. We will be publishing more frequently during the legislative session. Please reach out to us: [email protected] if you have questions or would like more information on a particular bill.
