Email from Zionist Organization of America ZIONIST ORGANIZATION OF AMERICA SUPPORT THE "ILLEGITIMATE COURT COUNTERACTION ACT" (H.R.23) Contact your Senator to demand support for bipartisan legislation targeting the International Criminal Court (ICC) because of its blatantly anti-Israel actions. The House of Representatives already passed an excellent bill imposing sanctions on persons who aid efforts by the ICC to prosecute Americans or Israelis. You can find contact information for Senators here: U.S. Senate: Contacting U.S. Senators Background: Neither the U.S. or Israel is a member of the ICC and neither country is subject to its jurisdiction. The ICC issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, charging them with "war crimes" and "crimes against humanity." There is no country of 'Palestine,' and the idea that that fictional entity is a member of the ICC is not in accordance with International Law. The ICC treaty provides for prosecution only when a country is unwilling to prosecute violators with its own laws. Both the U.S. and Israel have robust criminal systems where any crimes involving their citizens would be fully prosecuted. No war crimes have been committed by the IDF. There is no starvation in Gaza and Israel is the country providing humanitarian aid to the civilian population of Gaza. The ICC's politicized process is as much a threat to the U.S. as it is to Israel. The ICC inappropriately started an investigation against American military officials over supposed war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan. Please use these talking points in a phone call or write your Senator a letter like the example below. Please personalize the letter with the Senator's name and your own. Example Correspondence: Dear Senator [Name], The recent decision by the International Criminal Court (ICC) to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant is a politically motivated act that undermines international law and damages U.S. interests in the region. The prosecutors of the ICC know very well that neither the U.S. nor Israel is a signatory to the ICC treaty, and that they have no jurisdiction. If a war crime were committed by soldiers in either country, military justice would investigate and bring charges under the existing laws of the U.S. and Israel. I strongly urge you to support The Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act, which imposes sanctions on persons who aid efforts by the ICC to prosecute Americans or Israelis. The House passed this bipartisan legislation (H.R.23) last week. This legislation will send an effective message that the ICC must not undermine efforts to rout Hamas and other terror entities while punishing Israel simply for doing what it must to rescue and protect its citizens.
