2025 can be the year to leave polluting diesel behind for good

Volvo's CEO Martin Lundstedt promises a future of cutting-edge innovation and sustainability for trucks. But in the U.S., Volvo has been actively stalling the shift to the newest, cleanest technologies—leaving the country behind other economies.

A real agent of change drives change everywhere, for everyone. Tell Martin to stop delaying the transition to electric trucks in America.

TAKE ACTION

Hi—

The Consumer Electronics Show—well regarded as the most powerful tech event in the world—just took place last week in Las Vegas.

And it gave Volvo Group's CEO Martin Lundstedt quite the stage to wow the audience with a vision of clean, cutting-edge technology for the trucks of the future: No fossil fuels, no emissions—just pure innovation.

What Martin did not say is that Volvo Group North America, along with other truck manufacturers, has been delaying the adoption of the technologies they are promising in the U.S.

Here's what they have been doing: As recently as 2024, Volvo lobbied to weaken emissions standards that could shift the market to make electric trucks more accessible, scared dealers out of supporting these same rules, and poured money into new plants for diesel trucks.

Americans shouldn’t be forced to deal with diesel fumes, polluted roads, and avoidable health crises when the technology for truly clean trucks is already here and even Volvo is accelerating electric truck deployment overseas. We shouldn't be left behind with bad air. That's why we're joining our friends at Idle Giants to flood Martin with letters on LinkedIn demanding he back his words with action and accelerate a just transition to electric trucks ASAP.

Will you take two minutes to send one? Our friends at Idle Giants made it super easy with pre-written text you can share here.

Volvo plays a pivotal role in global transport and infrastructure, and its decisions impact businesses and communities worldwide. While progress is being made, Volvo’s actions in the U.S. are actively delaying the transition to clean technologies—with real consequences for the health, livelihoods, and future of the very communities Martin Lundstedt claims to serve.

Words at a flashy tech show are not enough.

If fossil-free transportation and zero emissions are truly global goals, Volvo must lead both in words and actions—everywhere it operates.

Please, take action on LinkedIn to demand Volvo Group be the leader it claims to be by accelerating and driving a truly sustainable future, everywhere.

In solidarity,

Craig Segall
