Happy New Year, friend!
The 119th Congress has just begun, and I’ve already gotten straight to work as the Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus.
But before we get too far into the term, I wanted us to share a few of the resolutions I made while celebrating the holidays and the new year:
* Advance policies that uplift our communities: Congress must work to create a pathway for all Americans to succeed — I’m proud to be leading the fight for criminal justice reform and ensuring access to quality, affordable healthcare.
* Keep the CBC the conscience of Congress: Since this caucus was founded in 1971, we’ve prioritized uplifting Black Americans and exposing hate-filled political agendas — and that won’t change anytime soon. I’m ready to be loud, clear, and consistent in my opposition to the MAGA movement.
* Hold the line against MAGA Republicans: With 62 members, the CBC is more prepared than ever to stand up and fight back against the anti-Black and anti-immigrant MAGA agenda in Congress. As chair, I’ll put those numbers to good use and hold the line to protect Americans from dangerous policy.
These aren’t your typical New Year’s resolutions, friend, but we’re not gearing up for a typical Congress. The following two years will be filled with the incoming administration and Republicans in Congress stopping at nothing to wage their war on our rights and freedoms.
And I won’t stand for that. Will you help me keep my New Year's resolutions by committing to a recurring donation and powering my work as Chair? [[link removed]]
