Dear Friend,
While the media has focused on incinerated mansions, the reality is that the still-burning LA fires have destroyed thousands of homes of both wealthy and working-class Angelenos. Shelters are full of people who’ve lost everything.
Working people whose apartments burned to the ground must now find affordable housing in one of the most expensive cities, battle FEMA and insurance companies for compensation, and struggle to find new work and reopen their small businesses and home daycare centers.
That’s why we’re focused on supporting our sisters and brothers from LA Voice as they organize survivors to know and demand their rights.
You can help by donating today to a special fund to support LA Voice to help them continue to visit people in shelters to hear their stories, provide accurate information, and enable people to fight for a just recovery that helps everyone, including those who had the least before the fires.
Organizers visiting shelters report that people have donated water, food, and clothing, and most want help navigating FEMA and insurance claims.
Every dollar you give will go directly to LA Voice to support its organizing of families whose lives have been upended by the fires.
Please keep our siblings in your prayers and keep organizing.
In solidarity,
Bishop Dwayne Royster
