Governor Sears’ life story embodies the values of TakeCharge of faith, family and education. Her message inspires all Americans and we are honored to host her in Minnesota.

* A native of Kingston, Jamaica, she immigrated to the U.S. at six years old.
* Proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.
* In 2002, became the first Republican elected from her district since 1865.
* First female Lieutenant Governor of Virginia and the first black female elected to statewide office.
* Holds a B.A. in English with a minor in Economics and an M.A. in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in Government.
