A native of Kingston, Jamaica, she immigrated to the U.S. at six years old.
Proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.
In 2002, became the first Republican elected from her district since 1865.
First female Lieutenant Governor of Virginia and the first black female elected to statewide office.
Holds a B.A. in English with a minor in Economics and an M.A. in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in Government.
