Email from Rep. Nehls Rep. Nehls on Election of Mike Johnson as Speaker of the House Greetings! Happy New Year! I wanted to take a moment to share with you a recap of what happened last week in Texas' 22nd District and the United States House of Representatives. Friday, January 3, 2025, marks the beginning of the 119th Congress. For four years, our nation has been struggling due to the Biden-Harris Administration's misguided policies. We have a lot of work to do to get our country back on track, and I will work with my House Republican colleagues and the greatest president of my lifetime, President Donald J. Trump, to Make America Great Again. It's a new day in America. I am honored to represent the 22nd Congressional District of Texas in Congress and look forward to delivering results for not only TX-22 but all Americans. This Week in Washington, D.C. Rep. Troy E. Nehls on the Election of Mike Johnson as Speaker of the House for the 119th Congress This week, the United States House of Representatives re-elected Congressman Mike Johnson as Speaker of the House. I voted in support of Speaker Johnson. On November 5, 2024, the American people issued President Donald J. Trump a resounding mandate and gave Republicans the gavel in Congress to lead our country into a new Golden Age. President Trump is the leader of the Republican Party, and Mike Johnson is the right man to lead the House Republican Conference as Speaker to deliver real results for the American people. I'm ready to hit the ground running to immediately pass legislation that advances and supports President Trump's America First agenda. This Week in TX-22 Rep. Troy E. Nehls Announces Winners of the 2024 Congressional App Competition I am proud to announce the winners of the 2024 Congressional App Challenge. The Congressional App Challenge (CAC) is a competition designed to encourage student participation in computer science and coding. The United States House of Representatives launched the CAC in 2014. This nationwide effort allows students to compete against their peers by creating an application ("app") for desktop/PC, web, tablet, mobile, raspberry Pi, or other devices. The Congressional App Challenge promotes innovation and engagement in computer science. The first-place winner of the 2024 Congressional App Challenge is NexusAI, designed by Arpan Neupane (Elkins High School). The second-place winner is Evolve, designed by Summit Datta and Arnav Reddy (Elkins High School), and the third-place goes to At+endance, designed by Suhhyun Kim (Cinco Ranch High School). Congratulations to the winners of the 2024 Congressional App Challenge. Texas' 22nd Congressional District is filled with talented, young students who have a bright future ahead of them! NexusAI – Designed by Arpan Neupane (Elkins High School) NexusAI leverages the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to help high school students improve their test preparation and study habits while avoiding shortcuts like cheating and plagiarism. Upon completing registration and logging in, students may add courses they are taking in high school. This gives them access to a personalized AI tutor to ask questions and additional features to help generate cohesive notes, create mind maps for visualizing information, and develop study guides catered to the course's topics. With its built-in conversational AI tutor, users can receive immediate, human-like assistance in understanding various concepts pertaining to their course. Additionally, the app helps combat cheating by providing students with a medium to use artificial intelligence responsibly, allowing students to focus on improving their learning while also maintaining integrity. Evolve – Designed by Summit Datta and Arnav Reddy (Elkins High School) Evolve is an emotionally aware AI therapist that allows users to journal within the app and then communicate with an intelligent AI model that takes that as context for the conversation. The model has been custom-trained with hours of therapy data and prompts to function as both a helpful and easy-to-use assistant to support mental health. This allows anyone who can't afford therapy or can't access it as easily as others to see its benefits with a clean user interface and a helpful AI that still understands their emotions as well as a human does if not better. A+tendance – Designed by Suhhyun Kim (Cinco Ranch High School) A+tendance is a comprehensive, automated attendance tracking app designed to streamline participation management for school organizations. Users can either create a new group or join an existing one by entering a unique 6-digit code. The app also incorporates a point-based system that rewards members for participation in events. It allows organizations to assign different point values based on the significance of each event. The primary goal of A+tendance is to reduce the time and effort required for tracking attendance, providing school organizations with an accurate, transparent, and efficient method to manage member participation. Because this application was created from Suhhyun’s experience of leading a large organization in school, she prioritized making a user-friendly interface and automation tools that enhances the experience of both administrators and members. Has your amendment been pending for an excessive amount of time? My office can assist. You can check the status of your refund here and the status of your amended return here.
