Twenty-two years ago, we founded Americans for Safe Access (ASA) to bring patient voices into the national cannabis debate. Together, we secured groundbreaking victories: medical cannabis programs in most states, product safety standards once deemed impossible, federal protections for state-legal medical programs, and even an acknowledgment from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that cannabis has medical value.

Despite these victories, we seem to be approaching a crossroads rather than the tipping point we had envisioned. Let's review the events that impacted medical cannabis policy in 2024, shall we?
