With people spending more time at home, youth and young adults may be increasing their screen time. The issue? Tobacco imagery is in everything from movies to TV to video games. Here are the policies that producers of all video content, regardless of platform, should adopt to reduce exposure.

New York State Department of Health works to combat the youth vaping epidemic ([link removed])

New York has taken a step in the right direction to stop the youth e-cigarette epidemic by prohibiting the sale of all flavored e-cigarettes – except those that receive FDA premarket approval – and the sale of all tobacco products at pharmacies. California – The Senate Health Committee approved a bill to prohibit the sale of all flavored tobacco products and tobacco product flavor enhancers. The bill now moves to the Senate Appropriations Committee for consideration.

Minnesota – Gov. Walz signed into law a bill to raise the minimum legal age to purchase tobacco products to 21.

Oakland, California – The city council passed an ordinance to eliminate the tobacco store exemption from the city’s ban on the sale of flavored tobacco products.

Oklahoma – The state legislature gave final approval to send to the ballot a measure that seeks to reduce the amount of settlement funds going to the state’s Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust from 75% to 25%.
