Hi John, it's Yvonne Orji. You may know me as Molly Carter from HBO’s hit comedy series Insecure, where I play a high-powered attorney. And while I may not be a lawyer in real life, I’m reaching out to you today to talk about our broken legal system and the need for criminal justice reform. Will you give me a moment to explain?

When someone is wrongfully incarcerated, their dignity, livelihood, values, and innocence are stripped away, affecting everyone in their immediate circle. It goes beyond having a body in a prison; it’s a mental, physical, and emotional toll. And that’s what’s happening in our country right now: There are tens of thousands of innocent people behind bars, wrongly convicted of crimes they did not commit — and I refuse to stand by and allow this cycle to continue repeating itself.
That's why I’m reaching out to you today as an Innocence Project Ambassador, John. I’m asking you to join me in restoring freedom and transforming the legal system by helping the Innocence Project reach their $300,000 end-of-year goal. Every dollar will be matched by a generous donor, so don't wait: Will you make a donation to help free the innocent, prevent wrongful convictions, and create fair and equitable systems of justice for everyone?

Every day, the Innocence Project is working to strengthen the innocence movement: proving innocence, restoring freedom, and pinpointing the inequities and failings that lead to wrongful convictions. But they need our help to keep up this incredibly important work.
I’m doing everything I can to help the Innocence Project exonerate as many innocent men and women as possible. And I know that if we all take action, we can reshape the systems that have robbed so many innocent individuals of their freedom and help fix our broken system.
Will you join me, John?
No one should spend years of their life in jail for crimes they did not commit, John. Will you make a 2X-matched donation today to help the Innocence Project reach their $300,000 end-of-year goal to help free the innocent and prevent wrongful convictions?

The Innocence Project works to free the innocent, prevent wrongful convictions, and create fair, compassionate, and equitable systems of justice for everyone. Founded in 1992 by Barry C. Scheck and Peter J. Neufeld at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University, the organization is now an independent nonprofit. Our work is guided by science and grounded in anti-racism.
