Hi John, it's Yvonne Orji. You may know me as Molly Carter from HBO’s hit comedy series “Insecure,” where I play a high-powered attorney. And while I may not be a lawyer in real life, I’m reaching out to you today to talk about our broken legal system and the need for criminal justice reform. Will you give me a moment to explain?
When someone is wrongfully incarcerated, their dignity, livelihood, values, and innocence are stripped away, affecting everyone in their immediate circle. It goes beyond having a body in a prison; it’s a mental, physical, and emotional toll. And that’s what’s happening in our country right now: There are tens of thousands of innocent people behind bars, wrongly convicted of crimes they did not commit — and I refuse to stand by and allow this cycle to continue repeating itself.
That's why I’m reaching out to you today as an Innocence Project Ambassador, John. I’m asking you to join me in restoring freedom and transforming the legal system by helping the Innocence Project reach their $300,000 end-of-year goal. Every dollar will be matched by a generous donor, so don't wait: Will you make a donation to help free the innocent, prevent wrongful convictions, and create fair and equitable systems of justice for everyone?
