** A Year to Celebrate!
------------------------------------------------------------
Dear John
It’s the final newsletter of the year and we could not be more excited about some of the plans we have for 2025.
Before we return to your regularly scheduled programming, we want to highlight the Top 5 most effective ways our team has worked to take back California.
** CPC On Track to Opt Out California’s 400,000th Government Employee
------------------------------------------------------------
CPC continued its statewide marketing campaign to help public employees (teachers, administrators and others) leave their unions – putting us on track to opting out of California's 400,000th government employee in early 2025. Every time a government employee stops paying union dues, union leaders have less cash to bankroll the campaigns of politicians who, once in office, return the favor in the form of disastrous policies.
** Fiscal Health Dashboard Provides Sustainability Roadmap to Nearly 2,000 Cities, Counties and School Districts in California
------------------------------------------------------------
CPC published its interactive Local Fiscal Health Dashboard highlighting the fiscal health of every county, city, and school district across California. The dashboard was paired with our newly developed municipal finance triage guide. Check out your own local government agency here. ([link removed])
** Investigative Journalism Triggers Congressional Investigation Into Acting Labor Secretary Julie Su
------------------------------------------------------------
Will Swaim’s investigative series into Acting U.S. Secretary of Labor Julie Su (featured in National Review, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Post and in many California newspapers) triggered House and Senate investigations into her loss and “forgiveness” of Covid-era federal unemployment loans to California – and subsequent impact on U.S. and California taxpayers. You can read his latest, published this week on National Review, here ([link removed]) .
** Annual Parent Union Summit Doubles In Size… Again!
------------------------------------------------------------
CPC hosted our third Annual Parent Union Summit (our premier education event), welcoming 150 parent group leaders to Sacramento. Group leaders represented 28 California counties as well as groups in Oregon, Nevada, and Iowa. Year over year, the summit has seen 300 percent growth since 2022.
** CPC’s Comms Team Averages a Media Hit a Day
------------------------------------------------------------
The work of CPC’s media team showed up in myriad news hubs this year — with team members regularly showcasing their journalism, reports and op-eds in the Wall Street Journal, New York Post, Fox News, Fox News at Night with Trace Gallagher, CBS News, Daily Mail, The Way I Heard It with Mike Rowe, the Daily Caller, Ag Alert, Maven’s Notebook, CalMatters, National Review, Real Clear Politics & Energy, Apartment Management Magazine, and over 30 local newspapers and radio and television programs throughout California.
** Honorable Mention: CPC Adds Dozens of First-time Major Donors, Sees Revenue Increase by 40%

What You’ll Gain:
* Strategies to improve academic fundamentals like reading and math in your school district.
* A game plan for standing up to education bureaucrats and teachers unions that continue to legislate and litigate to override local authority.
* Connections with like-minded advocates, school board members and legislators.

After a period of municipal financial stability, California local governments are once again facing fiscal distress. A robust system of municipal financial reporting and monitoring can provide early warnings of fiscal trouble and allow policymakers at the state and local level to proactively address them.
Join California Policy Center and XBRL US for a half-day conference, Modernizing Municipal Reporting, featuring keynote speaker California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, CPA on January 30, 2025 in Costa Mesa, CA.
— Learn how the Financial Data Transparency Act (FDTA), federal legislation that calls for municipal bond issuance to be reported in machine-readable format, offers the opportunity to modernize government reporting, giving state and local policymakers the tools to monitor fiscal health.
— Learn about steps the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) is taking to build open data standards that will express government financials in digital format.
— Find out how standardized, machine-readable financials can be a game-changer to track and identify financial health for cities, counties and special districts. Get insights into practical aspects of the FDTA rollout from public sector accountants and analysts.
Don't miss this opportunity to learn about the potential impact of the FDTA on California governments, and participate in the discussion about how to implement this program efficiently and effectively!
