Dear Friend,

Over the past year, we’ve made a lot of progress to fix the damn roads, bridges, and everything in between.

As this construction season comes to a close, we have fixed nearly *23,000* lane miles of road and *1,600 *bridges since I took office. That’s enough to pave a road from the Indiana border to the Mackinac Bridge *72* times. As we look to the new year, we are staying focused on rebuilding our roads and bridges with the right mix and materials, so they stay fixed, supporting tens of thousands of good-paying construction jobs along the way.

More Michiganders are working in construction today than at any point in the last 22 years. They are rolling up their sleeves to fix the damn roads from major stretches of our highways to important thoroughfares. They also have been working hard to restore our vital water infrastructure and build new homes across our state.

Together, we are rebuilding our infrastructure, revitalizing communities, and building a brighter future for Michigan.

See more details below, including the key road projects we have completed or made major progress on in 2024.

Sincerely,

Getting Our Hands Dirty – Finishing Major Road Projects

As we end this construction season, we have fixed nearly *23,000* lane miles of road and *1,600* bridges since I took office. This year, we added $700 million to rebuild our roads through the Rebuilding Michigan Plan to keep building up our most economically vital highways and bridges without raising taxes by a dime.

Over the last few months, Michiganders have seen completion or major progress of several key projects across the state including:

* Completion of the I-96 project in Oakland County from Kent Lake Road to Novi Road [ [link removed] ], which includes adding flex lanes.
* Completion of the I-696 project in Oakland County from I-275 to Dequindre Road [ [link removed] ].
* Major progress of the US-127 project in Ingham County from I-96 to just north of the I-496 interchange [ [link removed] ]. Eleven bridges also will be replaced along this route.
* Major progress of the I-475 project in Genessee County from Bristol Road to Thread Creek [ [link removed] ] and from the Flint River to Carpenter Road [ [link removed] ].
* Major progress of the I-75 project in Monroe County from Erie Road to Otter Creek Road. [ [link removed] ]

Key upcoming Rebuilding Michigan projects include work on I-94 near Detroit Metro Airport, I-696 from Southfield through Warren, and a critical bridge project in Erie Township.

The new balanced, bipartisan FY 2025 budget I signed invests another $4.2 billion into our roads and bridges, on top of $1.7 billion from the Biden-Harris administration’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

*Housing – Build Baby Build!*

Across the state, pipefitters, carpenters, bricklayers, and roofers are rolling up their sleeves to “build, baby, build” a heck of a lot more housing and ensure every Michigander has a safe, affordable place to call home.

* This year, MSDHA made the largest investment to build, rehab, or permit housing in Michigan history—a $1.4 billion investment for *10,000 homes*, without raising taxes by a dime.
* Since I took office, we’ve built or rehabbed over *50,000* units, and we are not taking our foot off the accelerator. Brick by brick, we are laying the groundwork to build up our communities, ensuring they thrive for generations to come.
* The new balanced, bipartisan state budget I signed will invest another $100 million to build or rehab affordable housing.
* Building more of every kind of housing—single-family homes, apartments, and mixed-use buildings—will expand supply and lower cost while creating tens of thousands of good-paying jobs along the way.
