This year’s election cycle proved particularly groundbreaking for New American communities in Orange County, California when not one, but TWO New American candidates competed for the 45th Congressional District seat [[link removed] ] !
Vietnamese-American Derek Tran ended up besting Korean-American incumbent Michelle Steel for the position and we congratulate both candidates on running great campaigns. One day we hope races with multiple New American candidates will become the norm.

Munira Abdullahi for powerful conversations around Who Runs the World: Women, a panel on the importance of electing New American women to elected positions, and Ok Zoomer, a panel exploring tips and tricks to effectively mobilize Gen Z in physical and digital spaces.
