** 4 Actions You Can Take Today for Workers
------------------------------------------------------------
Across the country, workers are struggling. Public workers are fighting back against cuts and service workers are getting organized. Here is how you can help:
* Email City Council at [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) to urge them to adopt and ratify contracts agreed earlier in the year for bargaining units representing the lowest paid positions at the City.
As the City looks to manage a difficult budget possibly without Federal assistance, continued pressure will likely be necessary to make sure public programs aren’t cut and workers aren’t the first on the chopping block. In one of the richest cities in the world, there must be an alternative source of revenue other than cuts to the sanitation and wastewater workers that are currently keeping us safe. Make your voice heard and fight back against austerity!

* DSA National’s Democratic Socialist Labor Commission (DSLC) is launching a campaign in coordination with rank and file postal workers to pressure congress to bail out essential public services and secure the workers jobs. This campaign is moving quickly in anticipation of Congress going back into session. To sign on and purchase postcards to send to congress, please visit [link removed]

* The DSLC has also launched a national project to teach chapters how to organize laid off restaurant workers in their area. We’re helping chapters set up local restaurant organizing campaigns that can fight for immediate relief in the short term, and organize around a longer term vision to reshape the entire industry so it works for workers.
