Michigan bans firearms at polling locations
* Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) signed ([link removed]) two new laws prohibiting the possession of firearms at polling places and within 100 feet of absentee ballot boards while votes are being counted.
* Other states, including New Mexico ([link removed]) and Vermont ([link removed]) , passed similar laws this year to curb voter intimidation and threats of violence to election workers.
Trump reportedly considers DeSantis for cabinet

Ron DeSantis (R) to be his defense secretary instead of Pete Hegseth, who has been embroiled in scandal. Trump asks Georgia court to dismiss his 2020 election subversion case
* Trump asked ([link removed]) a Georgia court today to stop proceedings related to the state's election subversion charges against him and end the case altogether, citing a lack of jurisdiction due to his return to the presidency.
Lawsuits challenging election results filed in Florida and Kentucky
* Florida GOP candidate Robert Rochford filed ([link removed]) a lawsuit last week challenging the results of the 2024 election for the state’s 14th congressional district, which he lost by over 57,000 votes.
