Hi John, would you burn a forest to fight climate change? Of course not. But that’s exactly what Drax Biomass Power Station is doing - and it’s funded by your money. [1]

I’ll explain more shortly, but please can you sign the urgent petition calling on the UK government to stop subsidising Drax’s pollution and forest destruction?

Yes, I'll sign the petition: [link removed]

Drax burns wood from forest to produce electricity. They claim this is “renewable” because trees can be replanted and grow back naturally over time. Since 2012, the UK government has handed Drax £7 billion in subsidies, because it’s supposedly helping to fight climate change. [2]

The truth? Drax is the UK’s biggest polluter, burning the equivalent of 27 million trees every year, destroying some of the world’s most biodiverse forests and devastating communities, wildlife, and the climate. [3] [4] It’s outrageous and we must stop it.

Right now, the Labour government is deciding whether to renew Drax’s subsidies. Next week, we’re delivering a petition to the UK government to demand an end to these subsidies. Over 100,000 people have signed - can you help us reach 150,000 to make our voices impossible to ignore?

Yes, I’ll add my voice: [link removed]

Drax is burning trees much faster than it’s physically possible to replenish them. It’s clearly not good for the planet. But without public pressure, the UK government could greenlight nearly £2 million per day of public money to fund forest destruction and line the pockets of Drax's shareholders.

We’ve heard the government doesn’t believe enough people care. Let’s prove them wrong.

Please sign the petition now - this is our last chance to show we won’t stand for this greenwash. Every signature makes a difference.

Thank you for protecting forests and our planet.

Best wishes,

P.S. Can you join us for a peaceful and friendly demonstration against Drax in London next week? It will have a festive feel - but with a mission to protect our planet. We’ll also be handing in the petition to show the UK government that the public won’t stand for their money being used to bankroll forest destruction.
