Mike Johnson announces transgender bathroom ban in Capitol after Sarah McBride's election

You've heard the news: the anti-LGBTQ+ leader of the U.S. House, Mike Johnson, announced a policy barring Congresswoman-Elect Sarah McBride from using the bathroom. It’s sad but true: the anti-equality majority is more focused on policing bathroom access than addressing real issues impacting Americans.
What's happening to Sarah is unacceptable. But it isn't new. After Z ooey Zephyr made history as the first out trans person elected in Montana, she was unfairly targeted and censured for speaking out against an anti-trans bill. Mauree Turner , the first out non-binary legislator in the U.S., faced similar attacks when they stood up for protesters opposing a gender-affirming care ban in Oklahoma.
John, we proudly defend Zooey and Mauree then, and we've got Sarah's back now. But we cannot let these historic firsts stand alone.
