PopEd's Theme: Teaching Big Numbers
[[link removed]]
We hear big numbers, like millions, billions, and trillions, all the time, especially when talking about current events: 32.6 million [[link removed]] people were internally displaced by climate-related disasters in 2022. Global population will hit 10 billion in 2058. The U.S. debt is over 35 trillion dollars.
Conceptualizing these big numbers is hard for both children and adults. This season, our Population Education program wants to help educators teach these larger-than-life numbers in the context of real-world issues. Teaching about big numbers reinforces basic number sense and operations, and it's a critical piece in any study of global issues. To understand global challenges and, ultimately, to fix them, we have to grasp the quantities behind the data.
See what resources the PopEd team will have to offer over the coming weeks to bring these lessons to life in classrooms by clicking the link below!

We're proud to announce that we are again running a matching gift campaign to provide a truly transformative level of support to these small organizations. A fellow generous supporter will double your donation toward our Global Partners, up to $250,000, now through December 31 st ! I hope you'll take part in this special campaign.
