The SPLC investigation uncovered the identities of 14 pseudonymous Not the Bee writers

Friend,

Earlier today on X (formerly Twitter), Seth Dillon, CEO of Not the Bee, accused the SPLC of “doxxing” several of his writers.

As reported in an SPLC Data Lab investigation of anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-immigrant content on The Babylon Bee and its sister site, Not the Bee, this is publicly available information and is visible to anyone with a web browser, which is where we sourced the material. The Not the Bee website exposes contact information for several dozen authors, including the real names of many of the most prolific pseudonymous content creators.

The SPLC investigation uncovered multiple controversial businesses formerly run by owner Seth Dillon, along with the identities of 14 pseudonymous Not the Bee writers, despite the website’s efforts to keep information secure.

Despite Not the Bee’s claims to be “humor based,” much of its content features strong anti-immigrant and anti-LGBTQ+ themes. Nearly 600 stories were tagged as “Illegal immigration,” “Great Replacement” or “Build the Wall.” Another 800 were tagged as “Transgenderism,” “Transgender craze” or “Trans Cult.”

This critical work to counter extremists through investigative reports and hold social media and tech companies responsible for their negligence in handling hate accounts is only possible because of supporters like you. With your support, we’re able to work toward a more equitable, free future where hate and bigotry are eradicated.
