Message from your local Meadows ward Councillors
Since the emergency began, we have come to realise more of what we must always have known: how reliant we are on each other, how caring people can be and how brave some people have to be. Be it in The Meadows, in Nottingham, the country or beyond, we can be grateful for how well people have worked with the new expectations.
We want to say thank you to those:
Maintaining our health and care services
Providing food and basic supplies we need
Keeping our infrastructure and public transport going
Educating the children of the key worker families in our local primary schools
Providing extra security
Offering help and advice with money problems and energy bill
Volunteering to help those most in need.
Calls to the Council have been directed to our Neighbourhood Development Officer, who has been able to call on the range of these service suppliers and volunteers and council workers to meet the concerns. A special shout to the new *Meadows Helpers network* and to the range of *local street groups* who are helping those in need, co-ordinating efforts using mobile phones and social media. Locally the Police continue to tackle drug dealers, flats on Queens Road have received planning permissions and the Greener Meadows bid to the Climate Action Fund continues to progress.
But we know people need help now. So if you're not sure, do ask. We, your local Councillors, are only a phone call, text message or e-mail away. Please also call the Councils helpline if you need any help because of Covid-19: 0115 915 5555.
We look forward to getting through this crisis and working with your to build a new future with a new economy, society and environment.
"Cllr Nicola Heaton & Cllr Michael Edwards"

How we have helped to support people in Meadows ward
Our teams have been busy helping hundreds of people get the support they need during the coronavirus pandemic. We have worked with partners across the neighbourhood to help those in need.
Here's an example of the work weve been doing:
*We helped a single mother in the Meadows, with five children, who contacted us to say that her payments from Universal Credit had been missed. She now had no money and needed help with obtaining basics for herself and her children. *She was referred to Nottingham Energy Partnership and Meadows Advice Group for support with her electric and Gas (received a voucher) A local business (Nyumba Yako Ltd) was able to provide two food parcels to keep the family going until the Universal Credit payment came through. Also provided support with bin collection issues.**
