Message from your local St Ann's ward Councillors

We hope this email finds you and your families well. As your local ward Councillors we wish to let you know that you are not alone in this crisis and that your City Council continues to work hard to help those who need it most.

We know the last couple of months have been unprecedented but we would like to thank you for your resilience during this time and for helping slow the spread of Covid-19 by following the Government rules.

In St Anns we, as your local Councillors, have been liaising with council officers to keep up to date with the latest information and continuing to support residents.

Our ward has some very resourceful residents and groups who are willing to go the extra mile, picking up shopping and prescriptions for those unable to leave the house. Local businesses across the ward have also offered support during this time of need.

One thing that has been essential for vulnerable people during this period has been the St Anns food bank. its especially vital at a time like this and without them the consequences could well be deadly as peoples incomes are hit hard by the crisis.

We would like to thank everyone who supported and donated to the recent fundraiser and encourage people to continue donating in order to help keep its important work going.

Finally we would also like to pass on our heartfelt thanks to all those NHS staff, key workers, volunteers and carers. We are grateful for the work they are doing to help protect vulnerable people in our community, often putting themselves at risk.We hope everyone shares our gratitude for them and their work.

Please continue to follow the latest guidance and stay safe during this time.

"Cllr Sue Johnson, Cllr Chantal Lee and Cllr Dave Liverisdge"

How we have helped support people in St Ann's

Our teams have been busy helping hundreds of people get the support they need during the coronavirus pandemic.

We have worked with partners across the neighbourhood to help those in need.

Here's an example of the work weve been doing

*We have helped a St Anns resident, who is on his own since his wife died and he called the Council'shelpline for support. We put in place arrangements for a warm meal to be provided once a week and for Age UK to find a befriender, who now also helps with shopping. He has called back to say that the arrangements are working very well. The befriender calls regularly, becoming a genuine friend, and he is now less lonely. *

*He wanted the team to know how well it had turned out and how grateful he was. He has now passed the helpline number on to a neighbour who needs help too.*
