Dear Friend,
Earlier this week we celebrated Veterans Day to honor people who served.
Today, we not only continue to celebrate our veterans but we are fighting
for our moms in the military.
Our military mothers — those who serve and military spouses — have a 2-3
times higher risk than the general population of experiencing a maternal
mental health complication. [ [link removed] ]
[1]Let’s honor our military moms by demanding that Congress do something
about this awful disparity by supporting the MOMS (Maintaining our
Obligation to Moms who Serve) Act.
The MOMS Act would bring evidence-based maternal mental health programs
into the military health care system for military service members and
their families.

Act.
We know that serving in the armed forces is challenging, and military moms
deserve adequate mental health support. By supporting the MOMS Act, we can
show them that we value their service and sacrifices.
[ [link removed] ]Let’s raise our voices to thank military moms for their service by
supporting efforts to get more mental health support for them.
The MOMS Act will provide service members and families the support they
need to prevent and reduce the symptoms of maternal mental health
conditions by:
* Creating a 5-year pilot program administered at military facilities to
prevent maternal mental health conditions among pregnant and
postpartum uniformed service members and beneficiaries.
* Integrating evidence-based maternal mental health prevention programs
within existing maternal or pediatric care or programming.
* Increasing awareness of and encouraging participation in care or
programming for pregnant and postpartum service members and
beneficiaries.
* Establishing an advisory committee to identify evidence-based
perinatal prevention programs, increase participation amongst diverse
groups, and help reduce stigma.
* Providing outreach to eligible pregnant and postpartum service members
and beneficiaries about the pilot program.[2]

Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
Together let’s honor our military moms by demanding the mental health care
they deserve.
