We're proud to fund abortion

Our new call for funding coincides with the news that Donald Trump will be the next president of the US. The threat to reproductive freedom both in the US and abroad is clear. Each Republican president signs the 'Global Gag Rule' into law, which prevents US aid being given to organsiations which provide or even support safe abortion.

When SAAF was first founded in 2006, it was in part in response to a global funding gap caused by abortion stigma. During tumultuous times for reproductive rights activists around the world, we thank our funders for continuing to recognise the importance of a fund dedicated to safe abortion - an area of health many other donors will not touch.

We wrote more about the impact of US politics on global reproductive health in our latest blogpost (also available in French ([link removed]) and Spanish ([link removed]) ).
